Heeeeeeeeey,
I'm a writer, photographer, curator, and collector of good times based in York, Pennsylvania. I started curating Writer's Exhibits at The Grotto Community Center in 2022 which led me down a path of learning more about my community and its humanistic displays of creativity through the medium of writing.
Studied Syntax began for a fairly selfish reason: I wanted to get mail. What started as an excuse to fill my mailbox quickly became something much more beautiful: these written responses developed into unique pieces of art.
You'll find Studied Syntax postcards in coffee shops, bookstores, community bulletin boards, and wherever else they seem to pop up. Each postcard includes a writing prompt, postage, and simple instructions: write your response and mail it back.
There are no prizes. No deadlines. No follower counts. Just a conversation between us.
This website is the public archive of those conversations. Every postcard represents a real person who decided that a question is worth answering. If you happen to find one of my postcards in the wild, I hope you'll write back.
And if I haven't made it to your city yet, you can always order one from the shop and become part of the archive.
